We dare to innovate. We are creative, act quickly and decisively and think outside the box. GREEN ALLIGATOR is a team of motivated and committed employees who consistently drive things forward and continue to develop. Our Swiss Managing Director Andrea Büchel has built up her profound knowledge of the destination and the business in Havana since 2008. Together we have an enormous network of contacts which helps us to make our customers' wishes come true every day.

Our Team

Andrea Büchel General Manager

A Swiss woman who has now spent almost half of her life in Cuba. However, she would still love to eat Swiss raclette cheese every other day. As a flexitarian she benefits from the fact that Swiss cheese cannot be found in Cuba. In her spare time, she enjoys doing sports and often listens to podcasts. She is also often active in the kitchen and grows the missing produce herself. She collects the seedlings and trees from all over the island.

Raiza Stable Sales

Our first and therefore longest employee came to the capital Havana after working for 25 years in an industrial city in the east of the island without any tourist attractions. Her degree in German studies is her passport and has already offered her many interesting opportunities. She enjoys practicing traditional Cuban recipes and if there is an opportunity to dance, she is always there.

Abdul Awadh Sales

Was born and grew up in Miramar, a neighbourhood near the sea in Havana. He completed a degree in education, specializing in Spanish literature. Later, his passion for the tourism industry led him to obtain a further degree in this field. He appreciates the exciting work in the travel industry and at the same time enjoys the peace and quiet that his home offers, even if he doesn’t close the windows to the hustle and bustle of the streets of Havana.

Odette Gonzalez Sales

was born and grew up in Havana. She studied German and worked as a translator for six years. Odette loves music and is a big fan of K-dramas. In her free time, she enjoys practicing yoga and not a day goes by without her doing a bit of dancing.

Heidi Guerra Operations

was born in Havana and has a degree in education. She lived in Germany as a child, which explains her love of languages. Her discovery of the world of tourism led her to dedicate herself fully to this industry. In her free time, she loves the beach, dancing, spending time with good friends and traveling.

Gustavo Portal Operations

his German studies led him into the fascinating world of tourism, where he worked as a tour guide. He lives, thinks and feels Cuba through his personal experience and knows every corner of the country. Despite the “competition” from audiovisual media, he enjoys reading a good book. He always sees problems as opportunities for growth. His slogan: “Always ready!”

Mailén Vázquez Back Office

Born in the east of Cuba, she came to Havana like so many others in search of new opportunities. She eventually settled there until she decided to start a new conquest. Now she lives a little further north, on the other side of the Caribbean. She loves the sea, even though she still can’t swim, but the sound of the waves and the fresh air alone calm her down.

Yoana Camacho Head of Reservations

Cuban born in San Jose de las Lajas, a small town in the countryside in the province of Mayabeque, relatively close to Havana. The new mother loves Creole food, but she would swap any dish for milk, chocolate and honey. In her free time, she enjoys reading Christian literature and spending time with her fellow believers. She also enjoys visiting her grandmother’s country house and strolling through the various fruit plantations.

Dalghys Bravo Reservations

Cuban, born and raised in the countryside. She only discovered the world of tourism after successfully completing her Bachelor of Education degree. She currently lives in the middle of the capital of all Cubans, but she still misses the color of the haze, the starry sky, the chirping of crickets and the glow of fireflies. At home, she works out diligently, but her favorite thing to do is to go to the sea on her roller skates (or bike, depending on the road conditions) to eat chocolate. She likes to party to Cuban salsa and relax to pop music.

Luca Flaig Vice President

Born in Switzerland and changed his career as an electronics technician for tourism. Has a preference for sweets, especially for Bundt cakes. To compensates for those calories, he prefers sport activities such as SUP, yoga, biking, diving and hiking. As a golfer, he is unfortunately (still) no good. He likes to look for cozy bars and relaxing places to smoke a Cuban cigar with relish. From time to time, he also accompanies customers personally on request. He enjoys fishing on the catamaran trips and likes to surprise guests with home-baked sourdough bread.

Frequently asked questions about Cuba

Questions often arise when planning a trip. Here are the most frequently asked questions and answers about a vacation in Cuba. We will be happy to answer any further questions personally by e-mail.

How much should I tip my tour guide and driver?

We pay our tour guides and drivers fairly and well above the standard wage in the country - which we consider to be a prerequisite for successful cooperation. However, as in many industries, the tip is an additional reward and serves as an incentive to take special care of the guests' well-being. We are happy to offer recommendations on tipping in advance when you book through us.

Who do I contact in an emergency on site?

Guests who book through us will receive the contact details of our operations team in Cuba with their final travel documents. We are available 24 hours a day (also in English).

Do you need to speak Spanish to travel to Cuba?

Basically, a few words of Spanish won't do you any harm. In touristic places such as Havana, Varadero or Trinidad, many hotel staff, cab drivers and young people speak English. In other areas and in casas particulares run by private individuals, however, it can be a little difficult to speak English. However, Cubans are usually very helpful and if necessary you can communicate using sign language. For a trip to Cuba, we recommend bringing a dictionary (or DeepL or Google Translate app if you have internet access).

Do the local tour guides speak English?

Almost all of our tours in Cuba are led by English-speaking, local guides. The tour guides can tell you a lot about the history or life in Cuba that you would otherwise not hear. Especially on private tours in more remote areas of Cuba, we may have to use a Spanish-speaking tour guide. If this is the case, we will always indicate it in the travel offer.
