In general, Cuba is a very safe country to travel to, not only in comparison to other Caribbean or Latin American countries, but also to European countries. There are no weapons on the streets and the laws regarding drugs and prostitution are very strict. Cuban police is also very harsh when it comes to tourism. As this is the country’s most important source of income, crimes against tourists are punished very severely. However, these are relatively low – apart from minor offenses. If you follow a few rules of conduct, nothing usually happens.
